Where has Palanza Dance gone? We are hiding, working, scheming and dreaming! With a great addition to the Company, we have been working hard to make some work worth sharing! Thumbelina, our muse, has created the skeleton for our work. If you do not know the story of Thumbelina, it begins with a tiny seed… a desire, a need, a want. Then comes the manifestation of that want, and the story of the little girl who arrived in a different package than expected. Thumbelina is tiny, but full of life. She meets many characters who seem to be archetypal characters in our contemporary world: the slobbish toad, the helpful field mouse, and the depressive mole, to name a few. Thumbelina is lifted out of many disasters unto a final place of resolution and peace, revealing who she truly is. We are working with Ryan Anderson’s original music score, that include recorded sounds from the insides of trees and groovy beats, and are looking ahead to a time when an installation artist will join us on our journey. Mark your calendars: MAY 2012. We will be there for you.
